Guwahati: A wild tusker was electrocuted in Assam’s Golaghat district on Wednesday after it came in contact with a live wire.

The incident took place at No 2 Boraguhain Khat village in Morangi near Numaligarh town.

According to sources, the elephant had strayed into a village in quest of food but tripped on a live wire and got electrocuted.

Meanwhile, forest department officials reached the scene and recovered the body for post-mortem.

In July month, a female wild elephant died of electrocution when it accidentally came into contact with a power line at Manas National Park in lower Assam’s Baska district.
