Guwahati: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered setting up a high-level committee headed by a former judge of the top court to probe into the PM’s security lapse.
The committee led by a retired Supreme Court judge will include Chandigarh Police chief, IG National Investigation Agency, Punjab and Haryana High Court Registrar General and ADGP (security) of Punjab, the top court said, adding a detailed order would be passed in this regard later on Monday.
The top court said its committee will submit a report within a specified time after examining the records on the security arrangements, which have already been seized by the Registrar General of Punjab and Haryana High Court as per its order on January 7.
Meanwhile, reports said that at least 15 lawyers have received calls from a UK number reportedly belonging to the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
The outfit took full responsibility of for the blockade of the convoy. These claims may also point towards a possible and orchestrated conspiracy behind the blockade of the PM’s convoy, as the exiting claims that it was a mere ‘lapse’ of security, reports said.
The farmer groups had earlier claimed that there was a last-minute change in Pm Narendra Modi’s route and that they did not know that the PM was arriving by road.
