Exclusive: Who Is Viral Video Prime Accused Ridoy Babo? Why He Made The Video? All Details Here

Inputs from Bangladesh suggested that the woman knew Ridoy from earlier and was with the group for some time.

GUWAHATI: The infamous viral video prime accused Ridoy Babo was suspected to be a human trafficker. The 26-year-old Ridoy’s real name is Rifatul Islam and he originally hails from the Kishoreganj district in Bangladesh and claimed to be living in Bangaluru for almost three months now.

The nation was shocked to see a viral video circulating on social media where at least four men and a woman were seen both physically and sexually assaulting a separate woman. Hours after the video clip went viral; Assam Police released their images and announced awards on information about their whereabouts. Soon, they were traced down in Bangaluru and police caught them there.

Later two of them were shot on their legs by police when they tried to flee too.

Bangladesh police who alerted first identified Ridoy after seeing the video said that he was suspected to be involved in an international human trafficking network.

“He has past records also. He used to befriend women in the name of making TikTok videos and then used to take them to various locations in the name of shooting,” said Mohammad Sohidullah, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon division.

His involvement in the human trafficking racket was also endorsed by Ramamurthynagar Police in Bengaluru.

As per Kamal Pant, Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru City, all of the accused were part of the same group and believed to be from Bangladesh.

However, police were yet to verify whether the group from the neighbouring country was living in India legally or without any valid documents.

“The victim who is also a Bangladeshi was brought to India for trafficking and was tortured and brutalized due to a financial matter,” Pant said.

On Saturday, the victim woman in the video was tracked down and police have been preparing to record her statement. A police team was deputed to an adjoining state to trace the victim so that she could join the investigation.

Sources said that the woman was blackmailed by the accused after they recorded the video. Inputs from Bangladesh suggested that the woman knew Ridoy from earlier and was with the group for some time. Sources said she had left her parental home for over nine months.
