Bharatiya Janata Party’s Digboi legislator Suren Phukan on February 17th, 2019 allegedly hurled abusive at the assistant secretary of the Tinsukia wing of Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA) leader and threatened him of dire consequences when the MLA was exposed by the latter lying in public to garner votes in the forthcoming general election. The incident happened at Samdang Tea Estate under Digboi constituency of Assam’s Tinsukia District.

The ATTSA leader – Biki Tanti said, “I asked the MLA why he has lied in the public meeting ahead of the general election that he has constructed the electricity poles in the area and constructed the roads. And then he got angry and misbehaved with me.”

Tanti alleged that the legislator has not done anything in the past years after the BJP came to power in the state. “Not a single road has been constructed. He did nothing and now he has trying to mislead people just to garner votes,” he added.

Speaking to media persons, Tanti said, “The MLA has threatened me openly of dire consequences and hurled abusive at me which I cannot share with you.” “This is embarrassing on the part of the legislator. He should not behave in that way,” he added.
