    Eyes On Assam Villages To Identify, Groom Sports Talent

    The Chief Minister urged the sportspersons to aim for the Olympics and bring laurels to the state and nation

    Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced to organise Village Olympics Talent Hunt across the state to identify and groom budding sportspersons.

    Sonowal made the announcement while presenting sports awards and launching torch relay of 3rd Khelo India Youth Games 2020 at Sarusajai on December 29th, 2019.

    The Chief Minister said that the Village Olympics Talent Hunt would be held in five age categories – 10-20 years, 20-30 years, 30-40 years, 40-50 years and 50-60 years.

    He also mentioned that the encourage the players, 500 playgrounds would be constructed in the rural Assam under the Mukhyamantri Samagra Gram Unnayan Yojana.

    The former Union Sports Minister said that the focus of his government was towards making Guwahati the sports capital of the country. He further stated that Northeast is a powerhouse of talent and Khelo India Youth Games provides an opportunity to Assam’s youth to showcase their talent.

    Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister urged the sportspersons to aim for the Olympics and bring laurels to the state and nation. He also urged youths of Assam to make sports as a way of life and put dedicated efforts to achieve excellence.
