    Fake Driving License Racket Busted In Guwahati

    Police seized 32 fake driving licenses, computer sets, printing machine and other objectionable items

    Acting on a tip-off, the city police busted a fake driving license printing racket in the Beharbari area in Guwahati. The Basistha police arrested one Nikunja Das in this connection. The accused hails from Western Assam’s Barpeta district.

    Police seized a total of 32 fake driving licenses with forged signatures of concerned authorities of different districts of Assam and other states of the country, one printing machine and computers sets including other objectionable items from his shop at the area.

    Speaking to Time8, the officer-in-charge of the Basistha Police Station, Nabajit Das Baghri said, “The case came to light during the verification of driving license of a person in an accident case. On the basis of his information, we conducted an operation at Beharbari area and busted the racket on September 3rd, 2019, at around 3:30 PM.”

    As per information, Das was cheating people in the name of producing driving licenses for a long time. “The accused allegedly forged signatures of the District Transport Officers’ of different districts of the state including Nalbari, Kamrup and Nagaon. He also forged signatures of transport officers’ of Odisha, Punjab and Mumbai too,” police said.
