    GUWAHATI: Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on Tuesday alerts citizens of the state against vicious groups spreading fake information regarding government jobs in the social welfare department.
    The minister took to her official Twitter handle to inform that one fake news that has been doing the rounds on social media.
    She stated that some self-seeking and vicious groups of people have been spreading misinformation about appointments in the social welfare department through different media sources.
    The minister also urged the people of Assam to abstain from fake news and fake facts.
    Reportedly, these appalling groups of people planned to make money out of this notorious act. According to the law, this is legally a crime and a punishable offense. Hence, Neog requests the people of Assam to stay alert and not fall for such traps.
    In the meantime, strict actions will be taken against the offenders related to this crime, stated the minister.
    She further informs, “Therefore, hereby I request people not to get into such fake news. Appointments in social welfare or any other department will be intimated beforehand to the public by the government. I duly urge people to stay away from such evil-minded people.”
    Furthermore, the finance department has released 38.50 crores to all the beneficiaries of Assam state govt employees under “Apon Ghar Scheme” for the welfare of government employees under the Apon Ghor scheme. It is worth mentioning that up until now, 31,996 employees have received the benefits of Apon Ghar scheme.
