The four daughters of the freedom fighter Mahadananda Deba Goswami’s elder brother Rajanikanta Deba Goswami on May 9th, 2019 received notice from the NRC authority to appear for a hearing for the inclusion of their names in the register on May 16th, 2019.

On May 13th, 2019, the All India United Democratic Front’s Dhing legislator Aminul Islam on suspicion had demanded termination of certain National Register of Citizens (NRC) officials over ‘fake’ NRC objections filed to “harass” the people belonging to the minority community of the state in the name of the register.

Islam had alleged that the people belonging to the minority community of the state are being harassed in the name of NRC.

The final NRC draft was published in July 2018 which excluded 40,707,07 people. However, an additional NRC draft will be published on June 15th, 2019. On the other hand, the Supreme Court, hearing a petition related to the NRC, directed the state coordinator for the NRC Prateek Hajela to publish the NRC by July 31st, 2019.
