    Fatal road accident in North Guwahati’s Amingaon leaves one dead

    The body of the deceased was sent for post mortem by Amingaon police

    Guwahati: A head-on collision between a four-wheeler and two-wheeler vehicles resulted in one person’s death at Amingaon institute colony in North Guwahati on Sunday night, said a traffic police.

    The deceased person was identified as Biswajit Das (26), a resident of Dayalnagar in Amingaon.

    Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was sent for post mortem by Amingaon police.

    Both the car and motorcycle have been seized by Amingaon police until further verification.

    It is noteworthy to mention that as per a previous National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, over 41 percent of deaths in road accidents in Assam take place with two-wheelers due to overspeeding, reckless driving and overtaking. The traffic accidents in the State in 2019 comprise 8,055 road accidents, 591 railway accidents and 5 railway crossing accidents.

    In the year 2019, the state of Assam has recorded 3,843 deaths in different types of accidents, the highest in the entire north-eastern region, a National Crime Records Bureau data stated.
