Meghalaya based filmmaker Dominic Sangma’s second feature film Rapture has been selected for La Fabrique Cinéma, 2019, for this year’s Festival de Cannes.
An elated Dominic who is an alumnus of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute took to Facebook and wrote, “Very glad and excited to share a great news that my second feature film project ‘Rapture’( Rimdogittanga) is selected in La Fabrique Cinema, Institut français, Cannes. Previously the project was in Afis Busan and Co-production Market NFDC Film Bazaar. Thanks to my producer Jianshang XU for making this possible.”
The film is one of the 10 projects selected across the globe for this year’s Festival De Cannes to be held from May 14th to 25th, 2019.
Rapture is the only film from India for this year’s Cannes. Others include Three Brothers to represent Argentina, Sand City from Bangladesh, The French Teacher from Brazil, Organisme Religieusement Modifié from Burkina Faso, Bootleg from Egypt, Crocodile Tears from Indonesia, Raising a Beast from Laos, Tanzanite from Rwanda, Fouledh from Tunisia.
The storyline of Rapture surrounds around the disappearance of some persons from their village and how they react to the changes.
