A teachers’ family was allegedly ostracized by the Sankaradeva Sangha for visiting the Hayagriva Madhava Temple.

The Hayagriva Madhava Temple managing committee on June 12th, 2019 lodged an FIR against the Karuna Kanta Kalita Regional Wing and 1 No Ramdia Regional Wing of the Srimanta Sankaradeva Sangha at Hajo’s Ramdia in Kamrup district.
The FIR lodged for alleged ‘deliberate malicious acts intended to outrage religious feeling amongst the pilgrims in particular’.
It may be mentioned that a family, which is an ardent follower of Vaishnavite culture, was allegedly ostracized by both the wings of the Sangha following their visit to the temple.
Around six months ago, a retired teacher Ratneswar Pathak and his son Mukut Pathak, who is an Associate Professor at the Ramdia BCM College, had visited the Hayagriva Madhava Temple for PhD research purpose for which the family was allegedly ostracized by the Sangha.
A case under sections 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) have been registered with the Hajo police in the matter.
Further investigation is underway, police said.
