Guwahati: The Asom Sankhyaloghu Sangram Parishad (ASSP) has filed an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, Shiladitya Dev for his alleged communal statements.
Speaking to TIME8, Abu Bakkar Siddique, general secretary (ASSP) said that they filed the FIR at the Juria Police Station for his alleged communal comments against a particular community.
Siddique added, “At a time when we see that the entire world is fight the COVID-19 pandemic, we see that the MLA is busy in creating communal tension among various communities.”
He added that people need to take initiatives to unite the society so that there is no communal tension or any unwanted situation in the society but Shiladitya’s comments and statements have resulted in a massive communal division.
Siddique referring to the Noonmati murder case in Guwahati said, “We condemn the killing of Rituparna Pegu and at the same time we have demanded for capital punishment for the culprits. People need to take initiatives to ensure that no communal clash take place related to the incident but the MLA had openly made the issue as an communal one.”
He further stated that the MLA should immediately be arrested and demanded strict actions against him so that no such statements on communal lines are made.
