A case has been lodged under the sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 with the Dispur Police against a teacher of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy, Dispur for ‘sexually harassing’ a Class-III girl student inside the school premises.

As per reports, the incident took place on the day of the annual examination. The accused teacher had allegedly threatened the girl with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter with anyone.

The complainant has further mentioned in the FIR that post the incident the girl has undergone mental trauma and that she was taken to National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in Bangaluru for treatment. A copy of the FIR is available with TIME8.

“We request you to look into the matter and register a case against the accused under the appropriate sections of law (POCSO Act, 2012) and punish the accused as per provisions of law,” the FIR mentioned.
