Five killed, Ten injured in separate road accidents in Assam

Guwahati: At least five people were killed and ten injured in separate road accidents in different parts of Assam on Thursday.

In one of the accidents in Dhemaji district, at least three people including a minor were killed and six others injured in a road mishap, officials said on Friday.

The incident took place at the Telam Lakhipathar area near Jonai in the Dhemaji district on Thursday.

As per reports, a four-wheeler hit one motorcycle, one scooty, and a bicycle. Following the accident, one person died on spot and two others including an 8-year-old girl succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Meanwhile, six others were also injured in the incident and they were rushed to hospital.

In another incident, one was killed and one injured when a speeding bike reportedly ran over a pedestrian in the Dhemaji district on Thursday. The incident took place at Jonekareng village in the Jonai area in the district.

Following the incident, the pedestrian was seriously injured and the motorcyclist was killed after he slipped off the national highway.

The injured person was rushed to Dibrugarh for better treatment. The identity of the deceased has not yet been ascertained.

In a similar accident, one person was killed while three others were injured after two bikes collided head-on in Assam’s Kamrup district on Thursday. The incident occurred in Goroimari town in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Mizanur Rahman. While, the injured persons, were identified as Mahidul Islam, Afzal Haque, and Piyar Ali.

The injured persons were immediately taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for medical treatment. 

Meanwhile, local police reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased for post-mortem.
