    Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday handed over cheques to the children who lost both of their parents due to the COVID-19.

    The minister provided the monthly financial aid of Rs 3,500 to the children under Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni scheme.

    A total of 11 students have been provided a fixed deposit policy of Rs 7 lakh, 81 thousand and two hundred, and also a laptop.

    “Based on this fixed deposit, they will get Rs 3,500 monthly till they attain the age of 24,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

    He also added that, on the expiry of the term of the value the principal amount of Rs 7.81 will be deposited in the account of all the beneficiaries.

    Since all the applicants are with their extended family, there is no need to send these children to residential schools, Sarma stated.
