FKJGP locks up FCI over anomalies in recruitment process in Shillong

Shillong/Guwahati, June 14: Following the non-appointment of local youth in various posts at the Department of Food Corporation of India (FCI), the Federation of Khasi-Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) Mawlai unit on Thursday after having a meeting with the officials of the FCI, locked up the main entrance gate as mark of their protest over anomalies in recruitment process by the FCI.

FKJGP during a press briefing informed that the department has been very partial in appointing local youth from the region for the post of 4th-grade staff (Chowkidar) post.

The body mentioned that in the recruitment process for the post of 4th-grade staff in NEF region, only one candidate from Meghalaya was shortlisted out of all the 57 posts where all the shortlisted candidates were from outside Meghalaya especially from Mizoram and Tripura.

It may be mentioned that based on the allegations by FKJGP, FCI has been very partial in recruiting the local chaps in the town for the posts in FCI as the department is in Mawlai region of Meghalaya, the body is expecting a fair opportunity to the local people as well.

As per a report, FKJGP, President of Mawlai Unit, Marbud Dkhar said that they want first preference in recruitment for jobs for FCI in Mawlai should be given to our local people. We don’t have an issue with the recruitment of other state candidates, but the department shouldn’t be partial during recruitment.
