Former SMSS Treasurer Reveals List Of Akhil Gogoi’s Properties

Lakhimpur, April 10, 2019

The former treasurer of Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), students’ wing of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist Hiranya Pathori on April 10th, 2019 revealed a list of properties that the KMSS advisor Akhil Gogoi posses.

“I have accepted Akhil Gogoi’s challenge to reveal a list of illegal properties and this is what the list which shows his properties at different places of the state,” Pathori said while displaying a list and photographs supporting the list during a press conference in Lakhimpur on April 10th, 2019.

Pathori said, “Akhil Gogoi has plots of land in various parts of the state including at Guwahati’s Chandmari and two other places in the city. The monetary value of the three plots in Guwahati will be around 1.5 crore.”

“How can a peasant leader becomes a millionaire?” Pathori questioned before TIME8. He further urged the government to conduct a probe in the matter.

Akhil Gogoi on April 7th, 2019 dared Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to prove allegations of taking money from the opposition parties in Assam to work against the ruling party.

Hiranya Pathari had accused Gogoi of taking Rs 3 crore from the Congress and Rs 1 crore from the perfume baron Maulana Badruddin Ajmal led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) to work against the ruling party. Pathari, who joined the BJP on April 6th, 2019, claimed that Gogoi had taken Rs 3 crore from the Congress to oppose the BJP and work for the victory of the Congress candidates. Pathari had earlier staged black flag protest against the ruling BJP over the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
