Fresh Violence In Arunachal’s Tezu After College Student Killed In Road Accident

Sensation prevails in Tezu and its adjoining areas following the death of a 23-year-old college student Prem Tawsik in a head-on collision with a bike.  Rituraj Neog, a youth from Assam’s Tinsukia district was riding the bike.

Tawsik’s bike crashed into Neog’s bike at 34 Mile, around 10 kms from Tezu police station in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh. Tawsik died on the spot.

After the incident, relatives and friends of Tawsik rushed to the spot and Neog’s friends – 40 of them in bikes – arrived at the spot which resulted in a clash which was later brought under control by the police.

During the clash, Rituraj and few of his friends sustained injuries. Rituraj, who was arrested, has been referred to Dibrugarh for treatment.

SP, Lohit DW Thungan said that three bikes belonging to the boys from Assam were gutted to ashes after they were set on fire by the angry mob. 12 boys have been detained by the police at Tezu police station. They are likely to be released by the police on July 2nd, 2019 at Dirak gate.
