Guwahati: A gang of three miscreants on Wednesday allegedly threatened deceased All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader Animesh Bhuyan’s friends who are undergoing treatment at the Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).

This comes after the main accused of the Jorhat lynching case Neeraj Das aka Kola Gunda died on Wednesday at around 1 am.

Both Mridusmanta Baruah and Pranoy Dutta, friends of the deceased AASU leader Animesh were seriously injured last Monday afternoon in Jorhat town after a mob assaulted the three youths owing to a ‘miscommunication’.

According to reports, the gang of three miscreants was looking for the whereabouts of the two injured youths inside the JMCH.

Sources informed that the group then left away after collecting the information about the injured youths.  

Meanwhile, the sudden visit of the gang has triggered a sensation at the residences of the injured youths in Golaghat’s Dergaon.

On the other hand, Assam cabinet minister Atul Bora visited the residence of deceased AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan in Dergaon and offered condolences to the family members.

The minister also assured to provide police protection to the injured friends of AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan who are undergoing treatment at JMCH.

Minister Bora also directed the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner to look into the matter.
