GUWAHATI: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday honoured Captain Soiba Maningba Rangnamei, a 24-year-old Indian Army officer, from the Senapati district who led his men during the Galwan confrontation with the Chinese PLA army last year.
The CM felicitated Rangnamei of 16 Bihar Regiment at his official residence in Imphal.

Following the Galwan clash, a picture of Captain Rangnamei went viral on social media in which he was seen in a fearless confrontation with the Chinese army. A resident of Katomei village, he led the 16 Bihar Regiment troops of the Indian Army and confronted China’s PLA soldiers in Galwan Valley during the face-off along at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
He is an alumnus of Sainik School in Imphal and National Defence Academy in Pune.
The Manipur CM tweeted: “The state always encourages our youths to join the armed forces and participate in safeguarding the nation.”
