Gauhati HC dismisses hate speech case against Subramanian Swamy
Guwahati: A hate speech case filed against BJP MP Subramanian Swamy in Karimganj Court in 2015 was dismissed by the Gauhati High Court on Friday.
The case was dismissed by Justice Manish Choudhury’s court.
According to the sources, Swamy was virtually present in court today.
Taking to the Twitter, Swamy said, “Assam HC today dismissed a Hate Speech case filed against me in Karimganj Court. It is a devastating order against those who filed it and got a warrant issued. Satya Sabharwal assisted me prepare my Defence. Others too helped. I shall name them next tweet. VHS Tony was great”.
A writ petition was filed under Article 226/227 of the Constitution and Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code, requesting that all actions and complaints before the Ld Trial Court be quashed.
As an abuse of the law process, the Gauhati High Court granted the Writ Petition and quashed all court proceedings and complaints.
An advocate filed the case and the Karimganj court issued an arrest warrant for Swamy. Swamy had filed a writ suit with the number WP(C) 4186/2015, challenging the matter.
