The Gauhati High Court has decided to provide some facilities to the Chief Justice of Assam (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi who will settle down in Guwahati after his retirement. He will retire on November 17th, 2019.

The Protocol Committee of the High Court made the proposal and the Full Court passed the resolution to provide the facilities to Justice Gogoi.

The proposal states that CJI Gogoi is likely to settle down in Guwahati after retirement and “it is a matter of great honour and privilege for this High court that an Advocate, who had practised here, has been elevated to the highest office of the Judiciary in the country…”

    Facilities are:

    • A private secretary to look after the day to day requirements of the CJI
    • A grade IV peon and a bunglow peon to serve his residence
    • A chauffeur-driven vehicle belonging to the Gauhati High Court on fuel basis, as and when required
