Ghy’s Sai Vikash Junior College student mysteriously goes missing

Guwahati, July 14: Sensation prevails in Sai Vikash Junior College in Guwahati after a student mysteriously went missing from the college premises. The college is located at Ahomgaon Lokhra road.

The missing student has been identified as Himalaya Brahma. He is a resident of Kokrajhar and a student of Higher Secondary (2nd year), science stream.

Speaking to TIME8, Dhirendra Kalita, Inspector, Gorchuk Police Station said, “The student went missing on July 9 from the school premises, But prior to that, he was once seen roaming on the streets and was picked up by a patrolling party. A person, who identified himself as his uncle from Kokrajhar, came and took him back. He also resumed his classes but he again went missing on July 9. In the past too, the boy had remained absent from attending classes for a few days on several occasions. He stays at the college’s hostel.”

The school authorities lodged a missing complaint on July 13 and intimated the guardians of the student on July 11.

“In the past, the school authorities wanted him to leave the school due to his indiscipline but the parents requested the school authorities to let him continue his studies. In the past, the student has also many times given in writing that he will regularly attend classes. It seems he has a history of going missing and the parents are also aware of it. We visited the school on July 11 and spoke to the faculties and students. We have also spoken to the parents,” said Kalita.

Kalita also said that though mobile phones are not allowed on the college campus, Brahma had “somehow managed” a mobile phone. “He used to take the mobile phone in the hostel bathroom and talk to his friends and others. One day, when the teachers got a whiff of it, he flushed the mobile phone.”

He added, “We have started our investigation. We will speak to some of his friends.”
