Guwahati: In an untoward incident, the doctors at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) recovered one fake pacemaker device at the operation theatre on Saturday.

As per reports, the attendant of the cardiac patient reportedly bought the pacemaker from a medical shop namely ‘Radali drugs’.

Speaking to the media, the proprietor of the Radali drugs at the premises of GMCH said, “We bought the product from our distributor. Our manager has already visited the distributor along with the bill. We are not involved in any act of duplicity. The product was procured from the distributor and accordingly, we sold it to the patient’s attendant.”

On the other hand, speaking to the media, Principal of GMCH Dr. Achyut Baishya said, “The matter came to light after Dr. Pranab Bhattacharya claimed it to be a fake pacemaker while operating a cardiac patient at the GMCH. We demand strict action against the culprits.”
