    Goalpara: Inter-state bike thieves gang busted, 23 arrested, 53 stolen bikes seized

    GUWAHATI: In a major operation against the bike theft gangs, the Dudhnoi police in Goalpara district seized a total of 53 stolen two-wheelers in the last 10 days and arrested a total of 23 members of an inter-state bike theft gang.

    In the meanwhile, appreciating the Goalpara police, DGP Assam Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta took to twitter saying, “This is a very good example of fine policing. Congratulations to the team @Goalpara_Police
    Besides, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta also stated some points on Twitter for the benefit of the people. He said, “Assam Police will continue to do its job but the public too needs to understand something.
    He mentioned few pointers for the general public to understand. He tweeted the following:

    1. “Especially before buying a second-hand two-wheeler, pay attention to the following. Don’t buy any vehicle at a low price.”
    2. “Find out as much as possible about the seller. The ownership of the stolen vehicle cannot be changed or the NOC recovered.”
    3. “The number plate of the stolen vehicle cannot be made, for which there is a special identification code, which is not available to all those who steal the vehicle.”
    4. “Just as stealing or selling a vehicle is a crime, so is buying such a vehicle. Therefore, if any person has purchased such a vehicle, he is urged to deposit it in the nearest police station at the earliest.
