Goalpara shootout : Six wounded, one held

GUWAHATI: Goalpara shoot out : Six wounded, one held

At least six persons, sustained bullet injuries on Monday when a person identified as one Animesh Chandra Roy started to fire indiscriminately from his residence in Goalpara town, some 100 km away from the city.

The injured persons include a woman. Police said out of them some three were seriously injured and in critical condition. All of them were rushed to the hospital following the incident.

Police said that on Monday morning, Roy started to shoot indiscriminately when one Debo Nath accompanied by some of his aides reached outside Roy’s residence and allegedly abused him.

“Roy then started shooting from his residence towards the street. While three companions of Nath, two passers-by and a woman from the neighbourhood sustained bullet injuries,” police said.

Roy has already been arrested and police have also seized his firearm. Sources said that Roy possessed a licensed firearm.
