Guwahati: The Government Railway Police (GRP) here on Friday seized about 822 grams of smuggled gold bars from the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express at the Guwahati Railway Station.

Police also apprehended one Delhi-based youth in connection to the incident. The accused was identified as Vishal Sukhadeo Dabade.

“We have apprehended one person in connection to the incident from Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express (12423), he is from Delhi basically. Two gold bars weighing around 822 grams were seized. The gold bars were moulded in the shape of two-length scales. The gold bars were hidden in his waist belt,” said a GRP official.

As per the preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the gold bars were smuggled from Myanmar, stated the GRP official.
