In a new development, The Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway is all set to introduce a special intercity train between Dekargaon and Dibrugarh on an experimental basis for a period of six months.
The train will start running from August 19th, 2019 for five days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday).
The train will have stoppages at 13 stations: Rangapara North, Balipara, Biswanath Chariali, Helem, Gohpur, Tatibahar, Harmuti, North Lakhimpur, Gogamukh, Dhemaji, New Sisirbargaon, Tangani, Dhamalgaon.

The NF Railway is one of the 18 railway zones in India. Headquartered in Maligaon, Guwahati, it is responsible for rail operations in the entire Northeast and parts of West Bengal and Bihar.
It may be mentioned, as many as 1,818 persons have been fined for spitting and littering the railway premises this year till date by the NF Railway. An amount of Rs 3,65,895 has been collected as fine so far. A total of 806 people have been detained this year for needlessly pulling chains and delaying trains.
Meanwhile, the NF Railway has detected 5,63,228 cases of travelling without ticket/irregular ticket and un-booked luggage cases during the period from January to July 2019. During the mentioned period, 5,442,18 cases of without ticket/irregular ticket travellers were detected and an amount of Rs 38.50 crore were realised from them.
