    Group of 25 junior doctors allegedly assault 2 month old’s father in Silchar

    The 2-month-old baby girl later succumbs to 'breathing issues'

    Guwahati: Amidst the hue and cry demanding justice for junior Dr. Seuj Kumar Senapati who was brutally assaulted by at least 28 miscreants in Hojai, a group of 25 junior doctors from Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday night allegedly attacked the father of a 2-months-old baby girl.

    Both the parents identified as Sarikuddin Laskar and Masuma Begum Laskar of Sonabarighat in Cachar were allegedly misbehaved by the doctors after they enquired about the health condition of their 2-months-old baby who was admitted to the SMCH a few days back due to respiratory distress and other health issues.

    Speaking to the media, the father of the baby girl said, “When I tried to enquire about the health condition of my baby, some of the junior doctors misbehaved with me. They forced us to leave the medical college and beaten us with sticks.”

    Following the incident, family members of Sarikuddin Laskar reached the hospital, however, they were beaten up and were asked to leave the hospital, alleged the injured father.

    The 2 month old child later succumbed to breathing issues.

    A case has been registered in connection to the incident at Ghungoor police outpost in Cachar.

    Apart from Sarikuddin Laskar, his cousins identified as Ahmedul Haque, Tariq Ahmed and Abu Barbhuyan were reportedly injured in the physical attack.
