Guwahati: As many as 10 rented rooms were gutted in a fierce fire that broke out at Noonmati in Guwahati on Sunday night.

As per sources, the fire broke out at the residence of a teacher of Noonmati Refinery High School, identified as Golelur Ali.

However, no casualty was reported.

The sources further added that out of 10 rooms, four rented spaces belonged to Siddique Ali, a neighbor, were also engulfed in the flames, while the other six rooms that belonged to Golelur.

The official informed that the fire caused the cylinder to burst. The exact cause of the fire is not known yet.

At least six fire tenders from the nearby fire station were rushed to the spot, and after much struggle, were able to douse the flames. It took some time to fully control the flame.

Meanwhile, properties worth several lakhs have been destroyed in the fire, sources added. 

Earlier, on November 23, a massive fire broke out at B G Colony in the Gotanagar locality in Guwahati’s Maligaon, over 10 houses were gutted causing damages to several properties.
