    GUWAHATI: Assam Police Special Branch SI held for illegal drug trade

    The crime branch raided a city guest house located in Lalmati area and recovered three kilos of WY tablets

    GUWAHATI: Assam Police crime branch on Thursday arrested a sub-inspector (UB) of the Special Branch of Assam Police in connection to a case of illegal drug smuggling in the city.

    The arrested sub-inspector was identified as Mussadique Hussain. He was booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

    According to police, the crime branch along with city Basistha police had raided a city guest house located in Lalmati area and nabbed Manohar Pradhan and Jenet Ramhnemkim Tulor and recovered three kilos of WY tablets (World is Yours) from an almirah of the said location on March.

    “During the interrogation of Manohar Pradhan and analysis of the mobile handset (WhatsApp chat), it is revealed that Hussain is involved in facilitating the illegal trafficking of drugs. Accordingly, Hussain has been arrested by the crime branch yesterday evening and further investigation is on,” the police spokesperson said.
