Guwahati: Properties worth lakhs were destroyed after a massive fire broke out in a Bamunimaidan area in Guwahati on Monday night.
The incident was reported at the residence of one Robin Chowdhury.
According to sources, the blaze broke out due to an earthen lamp that was lit in the temple area of the house.
As per sources, the properties damaged are expected to be worth lakhs of rupees.
Following the incident, at least three fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot, doused the flames, and brought the situation under control with the help of locals.
However, the police said that there is no report of any casualty in the fire incident.
On February 11 too, a fire broke out at the parking lot of a commercial building in Guwahati, damaging several vehicles. The incident occurred at the Silver Square building in the Christian Basti area around 10.30 am.
