    Guwahati Lockdown: Government allows all Standalone Grocery Shops to Open for 5 Days

    House to house sale of fruits and vegetables will be allowed for two days in between

    Guwahati: The government following the sudden rise in the COVID-19 cases in the state as well Guwahati, has allowed to open all stand-alone grocery shops in the entire Kamrup (Metro) district so that people do not venture out long distances or out of the particular localities.

    A notification issued by the Chief Secretary, Government of Assam stated that all stand-alone Grocery shops are allowed to operate between 11 AM and 4 PM from Monday to Friday (6th July, 2020 to 10th July, 2020). Shopkeepers and customers will have to wear masks, hand gloves and maintain social distancing.

    Responsibility of maintenance of social distancing will be on the shop owner and failure to do so will be viewed very seriously and may entail summery closure of defaulting shops.

    The notification further added that Maintenance of price line and prevention of artificial shortage will be the responsibility of shopkeepers and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

    Whole sellers of grocery items are allowed to replenish stocks of retailers on Sunday (5th July) and Tuesday (7th July) between 12-00 Noon and 6 PM.

    On the other side, house to house sale of fruits and vegetables etc. will be allowed between 8 AM and 2 PM on Monday and Wednesday ( 6th & 8th July, 2020).

    The notification further added that there will be no allowance road side vending of any fruit, vegetable, fish etc.

    All other restrictions as imposed will remain in place.
