Guwahati man rescued from Howrah bridge reunited with family

Guwahati/Kolkata, January 12: It was an emotional reunion for a man from Guwahati with his family in Kolkata.

The man identified as Hemant Gogoi (31) had kept the security forces along with the disaster management on toes for several hours after he scaled the ‘anti-suicide wall’ of the Howrah bridge on Friday.

Gogoi had reportedly attempted to commit suicide as he was found hanging from the pedestrian walls of the Howrah bridge.

After being rescued, he was immediately shifted to the Calcutta Pavlov Hospital. During the course of his treatment, Gogoi told the doctors his home address and thereafter, his parents were intimated.

Accordingly, his mother and other relatives reached the hospital and had an emotional reunion.

As per the doctors, the man is suffering from delusion and was kept on anti-psychotic drugs as part of his treatment.

The doctors suspected that the man might have been drugged during his train journey.
