Guwahati: Assam Police apprehended a bus driver for his involvement in the illegal drug trade on Monday.

The drug peddler identified as Nitumoni Kalita was working as the driver of the school bus of Holy Child School in Guwahati in Assam, said sources.

Locals in Guwahati’s Krishna Nagar area caught the driver red-handed and handed him over to the police.

During interrogation, Kalita confessed his involved in drug peddling and was the driver of the school bus.

Meanwhile, huge quantity of drugs has also been recovered from the peddler’s possession.

Taking to Twitter, Guwahati police wrote, “A CGPD team from Chandmari PS arrested one Nitumoni Kalita of Amiyanagar at Krishna Nagar today. A total of 0.57 gms Heroin, 3 vials, 1 syringe & 1 Nokia phone were recovered from his possession.”
