Guwahati: The city police rescued a total of 19 cattle heads in two separate incidents on the outskirts of Guwahati city and four persons on Tuesday.
According to reports, East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) personnel from Sonapur PS intercepted a Tata Yodha truck (AS02CC6472) with 8 cattle, whilst they were being smuggled from Rupohi to Byrnihat.
The police arrested two persons – Sadikul Rahman & Baharul Islam, both from Rupohi, Nagaon in connection to the incident.
In another incident, the EGPD team from Jorabat OP of Basistha PS intercepted a Tata Yodha truck (AS01 MC 0942) at Jorabat whilst trying to smuggle 11 cattle from Morigaon to Byrnihat on Tuesday morning.
Similarly, two persons identified as Manjur Ahmed and Najim Uddin, both from Hojai – were arrested.
