Guwahati: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has been asked to remove a lingerie advertisement of a multinational brand from a city signage and wayfinding board in city after complaints were raised by netizens.

The advertisement display pasted on a wayfinding showing directions to Chandmari and Narengi area has become viral on social media network recently.

On Saturday, after a member of Assam State Commission for Women, Lucky Gogoi, tweeted the image of the wayfinding asking the Kamrup (metro) district administration to act on it, the latter has immediately asked the GMC to do the needful.

The Kamrup (metro) district administration reacting to the Tweet replied: “The matter has been taken up with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation. It shall be immediately removed.”
