Guwahati: Police on Wednesday have detained four suspects in connection with the Dhirenpara dacoity case where one person was shot by the dacoits.

Four of the detainees have been identified by the police. They are Ganesh Das, Umar Ali, Biplab Daimary and Rupak Deka.

The incident occurred when a group of six dacoits in a doctors’ vehicle approached a jewelry shop with criminal intention.

Reportedly, a group of six dacoits in a doctors’ vehicle executed the crime at the house of one Gautam Paul who was also the jewellery shop owner.

After entering the house, the dacoits bolted the door from inside and forced three women and a child to kneel. The accused them robbed the valuables from the house.

Upon trying to stop the vehicle and dacoits from escaping, one Litan Majumder was injured after the dacoits open fire at him in a bid to escape the spot.

Majumder have been admitted in the GMCH and Assam government has decided to look after his treatment process and medical expenses.
