Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a Service Selection Board (SSB) jawan was killed on spot after being hit by a traveler in Sonapur on the outskirts of Guwahati on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as S Benjamin, a resident of Manipur.
As per sources, the unfortunate incident occurred near the Sonapur college gate, when Benjamin was trying to cross the road and a speeding traveler hit him.
Meanwhile, the traveler then plunged into a pond in Kachutali Pathar Village, however the people on board were unharmed.
Following the incident, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee the scene, sources said.
