    Guwahati Student Alleges Sexual Harassment By Family Members, Police Spring Into Action

    The city police have picked up her uncle for interrogation

    A class XI student of Guwahati has recently alleged that she was sexually harassed by her two uncles and cousin brother for several months. An FIR in relation to the incident has been subsequently filed based on which the city police have started an investigation.

    As per reports, the victim was brought up by her father’s sister after her mother entered into a second marriage. She lost her father when she was a child. During her stay, the girl’s modesty was allegedly outraged on different occasions by her cousin brother and her uncles(husband of her father’s elder sister, father’s younger brother).

    The incident came to light only after she divulged her devastating experience in front of her school teachers and accordingly an FIR was registered by senior journalist Gautam Sarma at the All Women Police Station in Panbazar.

    Deepak Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati is looking into the matter and have picked up her uncle for interrogation. She is currently kept at Childline.

    Meanwhile, the victim’s guardian has claimed that the girl is undergoing neurology treatment.

    UPDATE: Both the accused have been arrested by the police.
