Guwahati student urges PM to include self-defense classes in schools

Guwahati: A student of class IX from Guwahati has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to include free self-defense training in the school curriculum across the country.

The girl student, Minakshi Singha, has been studying at Pragjyotish Senior Secondary School in Boragaon, Guwahati.

The 16-year-old girl, in her letter, stated that at a time when cases of attack and violation against women are on the rise, “I am requesting you to include free self defence training for girls in school curriculum all over the country.”

Minakshi Singha is a Wushu athletic and organise free Self defense training workshop for girls on every Sunday at Maligaon area under the guidance of her master Sifu Gopi Singh Lama from past one year.

She includes in her letter that such kind of training for girl students “will instill confidence in them and protect them in time of need.”
