Guwahati: The Guwahati city on Saturday witnessed a sea of humanity as thousands of school and college children from different schools and colleges converged for the grand ‘Prabhat Pheri’ (early morning march) event organized by the Assam Government as part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, marking the 75th year of Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav).

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also took part in the grand ‘Prabhat Pheri’ alongside the school and college students near Dighalipukhuri.

Expressing his happiness, the chief minister took to his official Twitter handle saying, “Delighted to begin my day with school students who spontaneously took part in the ‘Prabhat Pheri’ (a traditional morning march) taken out to celebrate #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav ahead of #IndependenceDay. Their chanting of ‘Vande Mataram’ really gave me goosebumps!”

Earlier, on the eve of the Har Ghar Tiranga programme, flyovers in Guwahati were being beautifully decked up in the colours of our Tricolour.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Six Mile, Supermarket, Ganeshguri and Bhangagarh flyovers to see the decorations.
