Hardcore Dacoit and Drug peddler shot in Nagaon’s Juria
Guwahati: One hardcore dacoit and drug peddler Jaidul Kabir was shot in Nagaon’s Juria on Sunday midnight.
Police also recovered one 9mm pistol and several rounds of bullets from his possession.
Based on a secret input, the Nagaon police team launched a crackdown on dacoits in the Kadumani Town Bepari Basti since evening hours on Sunday.
Speaking to the media in this regard, Nagaon Superintendent of Police, Anand Mishra said, “We came to know about the gang operating in Juria. They have been involved in many drug peddling cases, dacoity cases and per time snatching. Our team led by DSP when reached the spot, when the dacoit cocked his weapon and tried to fire upon our police personnel. We had to retaliate and our team shot two rounds in his leg. He is injured and has been shifted for medical supervision.”
Meanwhile, the dacoit Jaidul Kabir has been taken to Nagaon for better medication.
Earlier on Friday, the anti-narcotics squad opened fire at most-wanted drug lord Mansur Ali in Nagaon.
Following the firing incident, Mansur Ali received bullet injuries on his leg and was shifted to Nagaon civil hospital.
The police recovered one 9 mm pistol with six live rounds from his possession.
The operation was carried out under the aegis of Assistant Superintendent of Police Manas Saikia.
