Hardcore ULFA(I) cadre Nayanjyoti Rajbongshi surrenders in Mon district
Guwahati: Hardcore ULFA(I) cadre Nayanjyoti Rajbongshi surrendered along before the Nagaland police in Mon district on Saturday night.
Nayanjyoti joined the outlawed faction thirteen years back.
He was accompanied by one of his partner when surrendered, informed sources.
A resident of Adola village under Borbori police station in Baksa district, Nayanjyoti joined the faction while studying for his bachelor’s degree thirteen years back, informed his family members.
“There has been no communication ever since he joined the faction, however, we learned about his return through the media yesterday,” said the mother of Nayanjyoti.
The reports of Nayanjyoti returning home after thirteen years has naturally made the family members happy.
Earlier, senior ULFA-I leader Jibon Moran who was exempted from all the positions by the outfit returned to the mainstream after 3-long decades.
Presently, Moran is under the custody of Assam Police.
Moran who managed the outfit’s finances was relieved from all the positions over his health conditions, stated ULFA-I in a press release. The 65-year old who had joined the United Liberation Front of Asom in 1984.
The Indian Army reportedly took him into custody when he entered Lazo village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Assam Police took him into custody along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. Later, he was brought to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh for medical tests.
