A 10-month-old girl child died late on Thursday night in Attappady (Palakkad district) of Kerala, according to a report in Manorama News . This is the fourth case of infant death in the last four days in the Agali and Puthur regions near Attappady. The Kerala Health Minister Veena George has ordered a detailed report into these incidents. The child, undergoing treatment for heart related ailments, died some distance away before being admitted to the hospital.
Earlier in the day, a three-day-old infant from a tribal hamlet died at Mannarcaud hospital in the district, prompting the Kerala government to order a multi-departmental enquiry into the incident. ‘We have decided to launch a thorough investigation into this incident,” said Veena George. We are not alarmed but keeping a strict watch on the situation,” she said.
