Guwahati: In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, the Bokajan police on Sunday seized around 241.06 grams of heroin and arrested one person in connection to the incident.
The arrested person was identified as Rabindra Das (30) originally hails from the village- Uttar Barbil Natun Bazar PS-Haoraghat District- Karbi Anglong.
The drugs concealed in 19 soap boxes were brought into Bokajan from Dimapur in a Bolero pick-up vehicle bearing registration no. AS 02 BC 7638.
In a press statement, Assam police said, “Acting on specific information a Naka was set up by OC Dilai SI (UB) Lutfur Rahman, SI (P) Akash Gogoi, ASI Jiten Gogoi, CRPF C20 Camp Bokajan and Dilai PS staff at Dilai Tiniali. At about 10.30 AM a Bolero pick-up vehicle bearing registration no AS 02 BC 7638 was intercepted. On being thorough search of the vehicle 19 box soap cases containing 241.06 grams of heroin have been recovered which were concealed by welding the body of the vehicle. In this connection following person has been arrested Rabindra Das (30).”
The drugs were tested using a drug detection kit and the result comes positive for heroin. The seizure was done under the physical supervision of John Das, APS, SDPO Bokajan, the press statement reads.
