Mofia suicide note says max punishment for her husband and in-laws

The high profile Mofia Pravin suicide case which has taken state of Kerala by storm took a new twist today when the suicide note of the deceased was disclosed. In the note, Mofia, 23, had asked the authorities to inflict the maximum sentence on her husband Mohd Sohail, and her in laws. This incident happened in Aluva, South Kerala.

Mofia, who was pursuing a law degree was found hanging in her in laws house last Saturday and ever since then the heat has been on the Kerala police who have been charged with developing cold feet in the case. Such is the pressure on the government  that the Kerala Home Minister had to step in and order the immediate transfer of inspector Sudhir who was investigating the case.

In her suicide note, Mofia had alleged that she and her father were taken to the police station and tortured by inspector Sudhir. “The police inspector played a major role in torturing me,” the suicide note by Mofia said.

It must be mentioned here that Mofia’s husband Sohail and her in laws were arrested from Kothamangalam late last night.

The public outcry of this incident has been such that all leading women’s organistations and NGO’s have stepped in. Even the major political party United Democratic Front (UDF) has been embarrassing the ruling Left Democratic Front (UDF) over this.
