    Superspecialty Hospital Opened At GMCH : GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the super specialty hospital and an eye bank at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Friday, on New Year’s Day.

    The Superspecialty Hospital Opened was earlier serving as the COVID hospital.

    “The hospital has been set up with the much-advanced types of equipment. No hospitals in the state have such advanced equipment for treatment,” said Sarma adding that another super specialty hospital will be opened in Dibrugarh in the future.

    The second wing of the super-specialty hospital will be inaugurated in February. The minister informed that the hospital will work as an autonomous unit.

    “The super specialty hospital will have one director and six to eight neurosurgeons,” said Sarma.

    Earlier the minister had announced that GMCH will soon be transformed into 3000 bedded hospital adding that the PET MRI will be launched in February for cancer patients.

    A 300-bedded cancer hospital will also be launched soon and separate women and children hospital will also be started at GMCH.
