Guwahati: In what shall be a major boost to Assam and NE’s cancer treatment infra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday inaugurated the Radio Therapy Block of State Cancer Institute at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and also dedicated newly installed state-of-the-art Linear Accelerator machine at the centre to people.
Expressing gratitude to the Union Home Minister, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I am confident that this will augment our fight against cancer and bring succor to patients. Having been at the helm of this project as erstwhile Health Minister, this is a matter of personal happiness to see this come through.”
It may be mentioned that after attending the series of government and party programs in Meghalaya, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at the LGBI Airport in Guwahati via helicopter.
Ahead of his visit to the medical college, Shah visited the historical Kamakhya Temple at the Nilachal Hills.
Later, the union home minister will be headed to Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra for the inauguration of various developmental schemes under the Government of Assam.
Shah also handed over cheques to the family of COVID deceased under Prarthana scheme.
He also laid the foundation stone of Tamulpur Medical College.
