Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday ceremonially laid the foundation stone of 430 bedded Tamulpur Medical College & Hospital.
He applauded Assam Government for the sharp focus on healthcare across the state.
Addressing the gathering here at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, HM Amit Shah said, “This Medical College in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is a historic step forward. Under the visionary leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the Bodoland Agreement was done. And I am glad that we’ve already delivered 90% of the conditions of the agreement.”
Shah also mentioned that the Government of India is committed to protecting and preserving Assam’s language, its heritage, and glorious culture. “The language, dialects, cuisines, and cultural traditions of Assam and North East are India’s jewels and we need to preserve these,” added the union home minister.
Amit Shah also claimed that the mandate that BJP got in the state elections for the second consecutive time means the state has given up protest movement, extremism and arms struggle for the sake of development.
“There are now five ministers from the North East in the PM Modi cabinet, which is a history in India. Assam has now been benefited from both sides. At a time when Sarbananda Sonowal is serving the nation as a central minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma has been serving Assam as the new chief minister of the state,” added HM Amit Shah.
He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is passionate about North East and focused on development. It’s also unprecedented that Prime Minister has visited North East 35 times in past 7 years!” Shah added further.
